As teachers, we’re always looking for resources that speak kindly to all students, and these two picture books are absolute glimmers. Both stories are beautifully neuro-affirming, written in gentle rhyme, and celebrate every child’s unique way of experiencing the world.
At GRANN, we’ve seen first-hand how these books affirm Neurodivergent students and build empathy among their peers and have even inspired our own “rainbow moments”, just like in the story. Teachers have shared how it helps students express their feelings and understand sensory needs with compassion, providing a shared language to express their needs with one child who often covers their ears when it’s too noisy smiled and said, “That dino's like me.” It was a powerful moment of connection as kids with sensory sensitivities felt seen, and others learned why their friends sometimes need a quiet spaces. I’ve Always Had a Voice is equally powerful, reminding us that communication takes many forms, gestures, signs, AAC devices, and every voice matters.

Great aid. Really helped develop activities based on the story. We set up a little teepee tent in the playroom with cushions, cuddly toys, headphones and the tomi story box. Very well received.

It’s amazing and well written my son has childhood apraxia of speech And has an AAC device he uses and he loves the book so much took it to school read it to his class and the school loved it and they want a copy, he took it and showed his sensory class and they also want a copy. It’s such an amazing book and includes everyone
Beautifully written book, made it easy to understand what is happening with our grandson and he also loved it and even later that night when going to sleep to me he couldn’t settle as his brain was messy.
